Kate calder

Kate has been painting since high school, where she studied Art and Art History.

After leaving school and some years later she moved deep into the South Island high country, where the colours and huge landscape were truly inspirational, urging her to pick up paint brushes again.

Mostly self-taught but influenced by Ben Woolcombe and Austin Deans, Kate’s work could be described as contemporary and depicts her surroundings of living and working on the land and the very many extraordinary creatures and creations around her.

Living and farming with her husband between Lake Pearson and Lake Grasmere, the environment continues to inspire her.
