Asheley Elizabeth

Asheley Elizabeth combines her love of organic forms and science in ways that push the patterns of nature into new perspectives: with the ideology that new ways of seeing hare keys to new ways of living.

Often using her materials as metaphor, she encourages observation & exploration of transparencies, layers, shadows and texture - all culminating as an aspect of our human story or shared experience in form.

Growing up in Canada, Asheley cultivated a love of tools from he grandfather, always tinkering away in his shed — warm nostalgia still holds those earthy wood smells and soft music ribbon — her studio has that same feeling today. As a full time Christchurch artist, trained in Toronto (B.F.A. Hons.), she continuously reaches beyond ‘knowing’ and aims to craft the artwork that reaches back: unique, aesthetically, intriguing & meaningful.

Alongside her art practice, Asheley creates large scale creative installations around New Zealand & globally: with the intention of keeping people engaged with the impact of art in community.
