Colour. Pattern. Form

Much of Kim’s art has reflected her seaside upbringing in Golden Bay and current home Motunau Beach. Mother Nature’s fossicked beach treasures remain a constant source of inspiration. 

In her ceramic exploration there has been a strong use of bold pattern usage and colour dynamics with simplicity of form at the forefront. Having studied graphic design much of this invaluable knowledge has instinctively been woven through her work. Techniques enjoyed are coiling, slab rolling and the use of clay monoprints.

“ My art and ceramics reflect the importance of flora and fauna and the environment in my life. One of my recreational pleasures is scuba diving. I find the vast diversity of marine life captivating and it plays an important role in my art. My underwater camera has become an invaluable tool on my underwater adventures. I look forward to a return to brush and canvas to enrich my artistic repertoire. ”
